Dog Park Closed September 11 & 12

9/8/2012

Next week, the County will close Battle Creek dog park on September 11 and 12 (Tuesday and Wednesday) from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM

During this period they will deliver enough wood chips to cover all the trails, so they are closing the park so their trucks and Bobcats can move about the park without endangering dogs or people.

These chips were paid for by donations from many of you over the past couple of years......  Many thanks.

However, we need your help................

Parks & Rec have promised their Bobcats will distribute the chips along all the trails, but we still need an army of volunteers who are willing to bring a rake and spend an hour or two  spreading the chips on the trails. This work can start anytime after Thursday, September 13.

MOWING

In years past the County always came in and mowed the North Meadow. This year we asked them not to mow, with the hope the Meadow would not turn to dirt.

But some users have complained about the height of the weeds, while others are not bothered.

If you have an opinion on this,  please let me know.

WEBSITE

Patty McDonald has done a wonderful job building a website for the dog park.  Look around and let me know if there is any other information you think should be included.

I might also say I think she is uncommonly intelligent and perceptive, and if any of you need help with a website, either for business or personal use, I would urge you to contact her.

MAILING LIST HELP

I now have about 300 names on this email list, and it is getting cumbersome, since Comcast only allows me to send out an email with 50 recipients at a time.

I would really appreciate it if there is someone here who could give me a hand in establishing a more workable email system. I know there are services such as Mail Chimp, but I need help setting it up.

Algae Blooms on Ponds

7/11/2012

With all the hot weather, we should be cautious about the ponds. Bloomington posted the notice below, which may be applicable to the ponds at BC. Bottom Line: OK for dogs to swim, but you should rinse them off when you get home. The also advise against letting your dog drink the pond water (I have no idea how you would do that).
